Getting Calls or Notices From Credgenics? What It Is and Your Rights

Many borrowers with overdue loans start receiving calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages, emails or even legal notices that mention Credgenics. If you have never borrowed from a company called Credgenics, this can be confusing and alarming. Here is what it is, why it is contacting you, and how to handle it.
What is Credgenics?
Credgenics is a debt collection technology company. Banks, NBFCs and lending apps use its platform to manage the recovery of overdue loans: sending payment reminders, digital notices and payment links, and running collection calls. In other words, Credgenics is not usually your lender. It contacts you on behalf of a lender you borrowed from.
Why you are being contacted
You are most likely being contacted because one of your loans is overdue and the lender uses Credgenics to manage collections. The message should name the lender and the loan account. If it does not, ask for those details before doing anything else.
How to check the dues are genuine
Identify the lender named in the message, and log in to that lender's official app or website to check your loan status.
Call the lender's official customer care number, taken from its website, not from the message, and confirm the overdue amount.
Never pay through a link or account number you cannot verify belongs to the lender.
If you do not recognise the loan at all, tell the lender in writing and check your credit report for any loan you did not take.
Scammers sometimes copy the names of real collection companies. Our guide to verifying loan settlement offers and avoiding scams explains the warning signs.
What about legal notices sent through Credgenics?
Lenders sometimes send demand notices, conciliation invitations or arbitration notices through collection platforms. Treat them like any other notice: check that it is genuine with the lender, note any deadline, and reply in writing. These guides help: legal notice from a bank for loan default, loan arbitration notices, and Lok Adalat settlement.
Your rights still apply
When anyone collects a debt for an RBI-regulated lender, the RBI's recovery rules apply. That means no threats, no abusive language, no calls at unreasonable hours, and no shaming you in front of family, friends or colleagues. If the calls cross the line, read your rights against recovery agents and our guide to stopping loan app recovery calls legally.
What to do next
Confirm the loan and amount directly with the lender.
Ask for any agreement to be put in writing before you pay.
Pay only through the lender's official channels and keep receipts.
If you cannot pay in full, propose a realistic plan or settlement in writing.
If several loans are overdue and the calls are not stopping, our payday and loan app settlement service can help you work out a plan and negotiate with your lenders.
